Re: Honeymoon at Aventura PalacePosted by Singer on November 25, 2000 at 21:12:52: In Reply to: Honeymoon at Aventura Palace posted by Kerry on November 24, 2000 at 22:43:11:
I remember way back in March there was a gentleman (well almost a gentleman) who really had an axe to grind with the Aventura Palace because of construction noise and missing an important phone call, loss of electricity, and cold showers. I figured he was over the top and I didn't pay much attention because he was so upset and overbearing. I have tried to voice my opinion but as I said originally there will always be damage control. Unless the reports are favorable to the Aventura Palace almost everyone who criticizes the Aventura Palace will be dismissed as whiners, malcontents or over opinionated. As far as the Aventura Palace is concerned; the grounds are beautiful. the service personnel are very good. The food is fair to good. They consider an ocean view room a room that looks out over the Mundaca Restaurant and a glimpse of the Caribbean Sea can be seen. The pools are beautiful and snake throughout the property. The lagoon is a good place to get wet, and the sand is as hard as a rock. If you want a nice resort for your honeymoon and you are bent on the Palace Resorts I would suggest the Sun Palace. It is small about 277 rooms and most of the rooms are jr. suites and (90%) are Caribbean Sea view. The lobby and lounge area have been completely renovated and the staff is outstanding. The Sun Palace does not have the opulance of the Aventura Palace but it is a nice quiet resort in the Hotel Zone and convenient to everything. The Sun Palace pool is small but the guest ratio is proportionate to the property, everything being relative. The Aventura Palace is approx 80 kilometers from the Hotel Zone and for some people the isolation is conducive to relazing and for others the isolation is a problem, it can give a person the feeling of being trapped in the middle of nowhere, although for a $5.00 USD cab ride you can visit a real beach in Puerto Aventuras in front of the Omni Aventuras. Also in Puerto Aventuras there is a nice place to get a steak and lobster tails (Richard's Steakhouse) All Mexico "beaches " are public. The lagoon at the Aventuras Palace is not public because it is not considered a "beach" The Palace Resorts will provide complimentary transportation from the Aventura Palace to the Beach Palace via Playa Del Carmen and the Moon Palace. The ride takes about 1 hour and 40 minutes. I have always felt if people are determined to go to a particular resort that is where they will end up no matter what trip reports are written on this page or any other page. Talk to a professional travel agent and preferably one who has been to the properties you are interested in and ask their opinion. Usually they are without prejudice and they will be candid and honest because they want your repeat business. Good luck with your wedding and your honeymoon plans!! That is just MHO
