You might look at Royal Decameron. Close to Bucerias--on the north end of Nuevo. It is a low rise resort. (caution, some bldgs have 4 floors with no elevators.) There 6 blocks of bldgs. Each of these has a pool and restaurant. There are 5 or 6 bars and a great beach bar which is fun in the evenings. Nightly shows but we never made it to any this year. There is transportation by bus into PV. Cabs are readily available and it is a short walk into Bucerias and their straw market. Bloc 5 has an adults only pool...nice to have a quiet area for reading and resting. The rooms are basic but clean. (no mini-bar and safes are $3 / day. The grounds are impeccable and the beach is nice. Food is average, though plentiful and the Asian ala -cartes are great. We are beach people, but I know there were activities daily at the main pool. There is the usual dance lesson, crafts, bingo, disco, beauty show and spa, medical etc. This resort is a great bang for the buck. Under $1300 for 10 nights in February with air. The guests and the staff are very friendly. We have gone twice and would go again, but are currently searching for something different. I agree the RM has gotten quite high. Good luck!
