No...you'd have to be nuts to swim on the outside at Lover's Beach (the pacific side) EXTREMELY dangerous. On the inside (Sea of Cortez) side it's great. The spine protects the water all the way out to the Arch.
Another very good spot is Chileno Beach, on the Corridor. Get off the bus and walk in a hundred yards to a nice beach with a pop stand and superb underwater reefs.
Also nice is Santa Maria cove...lots of fish
