All I know is that the Melia is way out of town and prettier, but the beach is not as interesting. I've been to neither and doubt you'll get much of an answer back here - suggest you ask your message on the Ixtapa Trip advisor forum or Ciprian's forum (do a google search for his name, forum, Ixtapa).
