: We stayed there last February and absolutely LOVED IT. Of all the places I've been this is the one I will probably return to...the main reason is the guaranteed perfect weather. We literally did not see one cloud the whole week. We have been in the Mayan in April and had 2 days of 60 degree weather. Huatulco was so hot that even capri's in the evening were too many clothes. We also loved the two villages nearby that were inexpensive to get to by taxi and very safe and fun to go see. The miles and miles of untouched coastline are beautiful and a privately rented boat tour will take you to a deserted beach if that is what you wish. It was just so much more simple than the big tourist areas and we had a blast. The Gala was a great size...people were friendly, a lot of Canadians and we met alot of fun people. The food is fine...not gourmet, but perfectly acceptable. THe beach is beautiful...sand so hot by 3 p.m. that you have to run to the water or wear your shoes...oh such troubles lol. The scenery of the mountains and ocean are a beautiful combination. Not many resorts to choose from and from what we like and what I saw...the Gala would be my number 1 choice (oceanfront, all-inclusive). : Has anybody stayed here lately??? If yes, how was your stay - also, is it worth the $$$$ to upgrade to the Royal Club??? Thanks for any help!
