![]() Our worst was the seven hour trip from Oaxaca down to Puerto Escondido. Once that old bus started down the twisting narrow mountain road there was no stopping and no stretch of road longer than 2 or 300 feet for about four hours. Curve after stomach clenching curve we careened down the mountain. Many were sick with motion sickness and though the drivers assistant collected every plastic bag aboard, there weren't enough for those that needed them. The bus stank...there was no washroom. People were begging the driver to stop.....He couldn't....There was nowhere to pull over to avoid whatever might be barreling downhill behind those blind curves. After four hours of this we arrive at Pochutla where the mountain highway(?) meets the coast and Highway 200. The grim faced driver finally stops here with a sigh of relief from all. We all thankfully got out as the bus was mopped out quickly and the assistant took over driving from there on. The rest of the road to Puerto Escondido was an easy, often beautiful drive. We caught an airplane back up to Oaxaca...No way were we going to ride a bus back up that mountain.
