The beaches on the western shores are almost all man-made, but in several south end hotels they are quite nice. Little if any rolling waves because this side faces the channel between the island and mainland. On the eastern side the beaches are every bit as nice as those on the mainland, but the water in some places can be dangerous because of currents and undertow.
