After spending 4 days at the El Coz my husband, 10 yr old and I spent 4 days at the Allegro Cozumel at the other end of the island. Overall it was just ok. The rooms/common areas/general upkeep are all lacking. However, the beach is wonderful and is this resorts saving grace. It's also excellent for divers as there is an on site dive shop that seemed to be well run/clean/organized. But, if your not diving I don't know if this is the hotel for you. The pools seem in need of a good paint job (no tiles in the three pools), the resort is undergoing a ownership or name transfer and things seems to have been let go until something is settled. If you do go don't stay on the 2nd fl in the thached hut floor as they leak and smell and wreck havoc w/ breathing.
