: We (11) of us are going On July 30th haven't heard anything good about the Occidental, tried to change everything else is booked. Is it as bad as I've heard or am I getting crazy for nothing, My travel agent called with a heads up about mold and "Rats" she's trying to get us somewhere else because she know's I'll raise Hell if I spend that much money on an AI and have a 1 star hotel when I was expecting a 4 star. HELP! Someone out there surely has something good to say and has been there in the last month or so. Please help a Texas Girl trying to take her family for a little fun in the Sun! We stayed at the Allegro last summer.We were told it was 5 star, then. We thought it was about a 3 star. You will have a great time, don't worry. The resort is very kid friendly. The food is good. The beach is sandy and safe. When you check in , make sure you get a ground floor room. The upstairs rooms have real thatched roofs, that leak and there are bugs. We had the heads up on this, but many people ended up at the Iberostar after the first rain.....It will rain, so take an umbrella. Take some bug spray and sunscreen, expect a little rust and have a GREAT time.
BTW, Occidental has 2 resorts on Coz., The Grand is next door to the Allegro. IT is the newest resort on the Island. I bet it is nice, and we thought maybe the Allegro had been put to the side while the Grand was under construction. It may be better now. 2 weeks ago the Allegro sign was gone, but it was open. Have a great time..no worries......PS rent a car!
