Family Trip to Cancun in 2009 !!! - where should we go ?

My father passed away and wants the whole family to go to Cancun - we are thinking of July 2009 - I have been to Cancun as a single person - Royal Solaris and the Mayan with my husband 3 times - Palladium and Barcelo - 2 couples about 45 , one couple 25 and 2 kids - grade 10 and 20 years old - checking out Riu Cancun / Riu Caribe - any thoughts on either hotel ? - and where on the strip are they ? - close to Hard Rock Cafe area ? discos ?? - thx for any input
