Sorry it took so long to respond, I have been out of town. They stayed at the Grand Oasis Riviera Maya South of Playa del Carmen. They said it was very modern in decor and had a lot of marble. They saw about 6 people fall and break bones while there. They said the food was terrible and are not picky eaters. Also, their a/c didn't work and after 3 days and nights of calling and going to the front desk to try to get someone to fix it they just gave up. They were tired of wasting their vacation time waiting around. The desk told them they had to wait for the worker in the room.
On the positive side, the beach was beautiful and calm. That was the only positive they had to say. They have stayed at several Iberostars and Rius. Mom and I went to the Barcelo Maya beach at the end of May and she said the oasis was no comparison. Hope this helps.
